Pattern Shop

We have an in house pattern shop which is available for producing new patterns and for modifying or upgrading present pattern equipment in wood, metal and resin materials.


Solidification Simulation Software

We are equipped with a state of the art solidification simulation software package which simulates foreseeable shrinkage defects, ensuring ìRight First Timeî castings. The software enables our foundry engineers to detect any problems that may be caused due to casting design. With good communications between the casting designers and ourselves we can solve these problems at an early stage, saving both time and money.


Non-Destructive Testing

A full range of non-destructive testing including radiography, ultrasonic magnetic particle, magnetic permeability and die penetrant testing can be provided to meet customer needs.


Chemical Analysis

A full range of chemical analysis is carried out within the foundry laboratory. The ARL 3460 metal analyzer is an optical absorption spectrometer which is used to verify the chemical composition of all metal produced by the foundry. Chemical analysis is carried out at various stages of manufacture including random checking of raw materials and analysis of furnace and ladle samples.


The 3460 is able to analyse an extensive range of materials including all ferrous alloys, copper base alloys, aluminium alloys and nickel based alloys. This along with its accompanying computer package incorporating sophisticated software provides a rapid analytical service, which is accurate and very reliable.

The software, which is customised to BEL foundries specific needs, enables results to be easily retrieved, for the production of test certificates.


Also available is the Hilger Atomic Absorption machine which is used for ìwetî analysis of metals.
